ACID ALKALIMETRY PRACTICE


Acidimetry: titration using a standard solution of acid used to determine the bases. Acid - acid used is HCL, cuke acid, oxalic acid, boric acid
Alkalimetri: This titration is kabalikan of asidimetry, because the standard solution used here is to determine the acid is alkali 

1.     1.   Accept a theory of practice

Before we conduct a practice, we gave a theory of practice from teacher. Usually, teacher give theory about which will we do, and we study about that for 1 hour. And then we go to Chemical laboratory.



2.     2.  Preparing for Practice

When we arrived at Laboratory, the teacher checking absent to a lecturer. And, he collected our practice report.



3.    3.   Using Personal Protective Equipment

Before we practice we must wear personal protective equipment. It is important for our saving. Because personal protective equipment protect us from occupational accident. In the laboratory there are so many danger chemical material. And, sometime we make false that can endanger our self.  As preventive measures we must wear personal protective equipment.



4.    4.   Preparing Equipment

Before we practice we have to prepare the equipment which will we use. The equipment have to wash and dried by tissue. And, while some lecture were washing some lecturer prepared the chemical substance which will we use. Purpose of washing equipment is cleaning the equipment so the equipment do not contaminated by residual chemicals. Sometime the lecture forgot it, and the residual gave affect to the yield of practice.



5.     5.  Make a solution

First step for making a solution is weighing. We weighed the substance by balance. That day, we held a acidimetric alkalimetric practice so we weighed a sodium luminal  and  salisilat acid. We have to  weigh a substance accurately, because yield of weighing give influence to the final result. After that, we dissolved sodium luminal by aquades or ethanol for example we made solution sodium luminal 0,1 N, we dissolved sodium luminal 0,5 gram in 50 ml ethanol, Usually we dissolve a substance in beaker and volumetric flask. 0,5 gram sodium salisilat poured in beaker 50 ml and we poured aquades with volume less then 50 ml, because beaker can’t measure accurately so we use volumetric flask to have outcome , stirred the solution till the solution be homogeny mixture, and then the solution we replaced in volumetric flask and we added aquades till volume of solution reach 50 ml.



6.     6.  Titration

We have made a homogeny solution and then we titrated the solution by burret. And in this practice we use a indicator. Function of indicator is identify a endpoint of titrating. Usually we identify it by discoloration of the solution.

While a solution was titrating the solution was stirring,



7.     7.  Result of titration

This is the result of titration, the solution has undergone a change of color.
